| SAT/PSAT Preparation Programs:What is the SAT©?
The SAT is a standardized test published by the College Board that is used primarily in the college admissions process. Typically, juniors and seniors take the test and scores are included on college applications. It is not meant to be an intelligence or logic test and the College Board intends the test to cover skills learned throughout High School. The SAT is offered 7 times per year and consists of three major subjects (Critical Reading, Writing, and Mathematics) tested over 3 hours and 45 minutes. Ten sections comprise the test varying in length between 10 and 25 minutes each. How can we help? The SAT is one of many factors that colleges use in the consideration of applicants. A student’s grade point average, extra-curricular activities, interview skills, among many other abilities will be included as well. The SAT is interesting in the sense that it offers a very concrete score that leaves little to subjectivity. While GPA can vary based on class difficulty or school district, the SAT is scaled continually to offer both national and state-wide performance percentiles. Our tutors take the importance of this exam as seriously as you do. Several of our programs offer guaranteed score increases and our tutors continue to take the SAT exam on a regular basis (even though sometimes we get some funny looks!).
